to photograph some of the most
beautiful desert scenery in the west


March 26 - 28, 2010

The workshop will include group and personal discussions on the following subjects:

How to use your tripod & head most effectively
Making the best use of natural light any time of the day
Professional exposure techniques using your cameras Histogram
Rules of Composition - how to use them and how to break them
When & how to photograph for HDR images
How to post-process your images for maximum output
How to photograph landscapes with professional results
How to improve the visual impact of your landscape photographs
Understanding the do's and don’ts of wide angle lenses
Selecting the right lens for the look that you desire
Photographing "details" and how to use a macro lens

If you use Canon equipment, I will allow use of my personal equipment during the workshop

Travel, sleeping accommodations and meals are on your own
Park entrance fees are also not included in the workshop fee
I would suggest finding a local motel for your sleeping occommodations and meals
I can make suggestions if you like
I will be driving my Dodge Diesel Mega Cab 4WD truck if you are interested in carpooling with me



The cost of this 3 day workshop is $425
( plus $75 for the Commercial Use Permit as required by Joshua Tree NP )

March 27th Saturday  (sunrise to sunset)
5:30 am  meet meet at the Oasis Visitor Center on Utah Trail by the North Entrance
6:00 am  Split Rock
9:00 am  Live Oak Tank
10:30 am  Skull Rock
12:30 am  Lunch
2:00 pm  Wall Street Mill
4:00 pm  Jumbo Rocks at sunset

March 28th Sunday  (sunrise to sunset)
5:15 am  meet at the Oasis Visitor Center on Utah Trail by the North Entrance
6:30 am  Keys Ranch Tour with docent
9:30 am  Hidden Valley
11:30 am Lunch
1:00 pm  Barker Dam or Wall Street Mill
3:30 pm  Hidden Valley or Jumbo Rocks for sunset

We have a “Please tag-along policy” for our photography workshops 
We encourage you to bring your “significant other” with you because
some things were meant to be shared with the one you love! 
However, they cannot carry a camera and be included in the training and learning part of the workshop
If they want to be part of the “learning process”, they must be a registered student
